Project: Internal & External Refurbishment at 34 Morella Rd, Whale Beach


The project scope of works included for the refurbishment to the internal & external of the building. The internal works included for new joinery & painting works, new electrical works including for new security system, minor hydraulic & mechanical works, new carpets, (2) new bathrooms & a new kitchen. The external scope of works included for new timber balconies, construction of decorative sandstone wall, stainless steel balustrades, new timber garage door & some landscaping works.

Some of the constraints with the project included for the width of the street, the surrounding environment of the residence & the close proximity of the surrounding properties. Murphy’s Group managed these constraints with the development of our Project Specific Management Plan. The plan was successfully implemented by our site & project manager as the finished project was of high quality & the job was completed one month early.

The reason for the project was to carry out a major internal & external refurbishment to a large residential property on a sloping block of land at Whale Beach.

Murphy’s Group engaged trade qualified contractors & suppliers to complete the works. We used our regular contractors & suppliers & were able to offer the client cost saving in various aspects of the works.

As the works progressed, Murphy’s Group discovered some cladding & backing boards which were asbestos containing materials. We were able to remove & dispose the Asbestos containing materials competently as we possess an AS1 & AS2 licence, hence are aware of all of the legislative requirements for dealing with Asbestos & Asbestos containing materials. By having these licences we were able to keep all removal & disposal works in house, hence offering cost savings to the client.

With cost savings & overall project management the client was extremely pleased with the completed works, as we exceeding their expectations.
