Scope of Work
The scope of works on this project had to be developed as works progressed with the objective being the removal of a prohibition notice incurred by a risk of objects falling from heights on base personnel below. The project was challenging with time being a major issue due to defence ships wishing to berth within the prohibition exclusion zone over the Christmas break.
Through effective consultation and communication with engineers and experts with in the field of height safety and access systems and no scope of works Murphy’s Group developed the most cost effective and practical solution to lift the prohibition notice.
We were able to show our extensive resources and expertise in delivering the project and managed to satisfy the requirements of Defence and Commcare with in the allocated time frame to allow the prohibition notice to be lifted and the ships to berth for the Christmas break.
Murphy’s Group demonstrated innovative ideas and its ability to manage a very challenging project and supply extensive resources and knowledge to overcome the time constraints with no compromise to Health, Safety & the environment.
With a mobile crane we installed a catchment platform running along the underside of the hammerhead crane and three catchment nets to the centre leg structure to prevent falling debris. The platforms not only prevent falling debris but allow access for future works saving both time and money. We provided in-house expertise, height safety technicians and solutions, safety officers, plant and machinery to save costs on the project and keep the wharf and base usable.
